Must call destroy() before Electron app quits

Call addon.destroy() before the Electron app quits (e.g., in will-quit or before-quit event handler). Without this, persistent references to callbacks and the threadsafe function will prevent the native addon's destructor from running, causing Electron to hang on quit.

app.whenReady() vs app.on('ready')

app.whenReady() returns a promise that resolves when the app is ready. Although you can listen to the 'ready' event using app.on('ready'), Electron exposes app.whenReady() as a helper to avoid subtle pitfalls with directly listening to that event.
