Decision tree for choosing connection method

For a persistent backend: use a direct connection if you can reach the database over IPv6 or have the IPv4 add-on; otherwise use Supavisor in session mode. For serverless or edge environments: use the dedicated pooler (PgBouncer, Pro plan) when IPv6 or the IPv4 add-on is available, or Supavisor in transaction mode when you need IPv4.
