opacity utility syntax patterns

The opacity utility in Tailwind CSS v4 supports three syntax patterns: opacity-<number> which sets opacity: <number>%; opacity-(<custom-property>) which sets opacity: var(<custom-property>); and opacity-[<value>] which sets opacity: <value>;

opacity-<number> predefined values

The opacity-<number> utilities use predefined numeric values that are converted to percentages. Common examples include opacity-100, opacity-75, opacity-50, and opacity-25.

Extended opacity scale in v3.4 to every 5% increment

Tailwind CSS v3.4 extended the opacity scale to include every step of 5 percent out of the box. For example, opacity-35 is now available as a built-in utility.
